He left cold Milan, and, after crossing steep ridges, rushing streams and through thick forests, the brave knight decided to spend the night under a big oak, near Florence.
Awakened by the sun and the chirping of birds, the noble knight found in front of him a peasant who was staring at him with curiosity. The knight asked the peasant where the land he was looking for would be, and the man still staring at him answered: “I don’t know what you are looking for Sir, but here you are half way there”, meaning that they were half way between Florence and Siena.
The knight looked around and, enchanted by the beauty of those sweet hills and the surrounding country, he decided that his journey came to an end and called his new, splendid house “MEZZASTRADA”(half way).
